St. Croix has restaurants scattered from one end to the other, so it's usually not hard to find a place to stop when you're exploring the island. Most travelers eat dinner near their hotel so as to avoid long drives on dark, unfamiliar roads. Christiansted has the island's widest selection of restaurants. Next door, Mahogany Road Chocolate sells chocolate made from locally harvested cacao and shaped as rain-forest frogs and "chaney" shards.

Stop in for a sweet treat that includes a wide variety of tropically flavored homemade ice cream—almond, ginger, peanut, coconut, pumpkin—plus seasonal varieties like gooseberry, guava, mango, soursop, and passion fruit. Savory local bites like roast goat, seafood callaloo, and stew conch are also served.
This beautiful courtyard restaurant serves French-inspired American cuisine; the barbecued ribs are excellent, and you can do a partially healthy offset by ordering the roasted Brussels sprouts dip and scooping it onto flatbread. Don’t skip the desserts, particularly the apple crisp topped with house-made vanilla ice cream.
