Fodor's Expert Review Her Majesty's Prison
Cockburn Town
Museum/Gallery
This prison was built out of stone in the 1830s to incarcerate men and women who had committed mostly petty crimes. As time passed, the prison expanded, housing even modern-day drug runners until it closed in the 1990s. Through a self-guided tour, you will see the cells, solitary-confinement area, and exercise yard. The prison is open only when there is a cruise ship at the port. It is worth the stop.
