This little store sells handmade straw baskets, placemats, and floor mats made by local artisans. Their huge handwoven beach bags are perfect for toting beach towels and snorkel gear. They also sell local art and beach rope bracelets woven from fishing nets that have washed ashore. They have another location in Middle Caicos near the Conch Bar Caves.
If you're looking for locally made art and handicrafts, pop into this tiny shop on the side of Blue Water Divers. It's also a good spot for decent espresso.
Developed in an effort to encourage the traditional heritage and culture of the Turks and Caicos Islands, interpretive displays of island crafts are on view. You can watch basket weaving and engage in a Q&A with one of the artisans. A variety of woven baskets and bags are on sale, as well as homemade dolls, paintings, and conch jewelry and key chains.
It's easy to miss this little store, but look for a sign that says "souvenirs." The owner, Tasha, is very helpful and inside you'll find simple, locally made handicrafts, including burlap bags with raffia designs, painted rocks, shells and old discarded tiles, bead necklaces, and mirrors with shell frames.
