Leeward

An upscale residential area, Leeward is the eastward extension of the island. Yes, it is possible to stroll right off the end of Grace Bay proper and onto the more quiet stretch of Pelican Beach, where you'll find a few quite grand residences and villa rentals. Working your way around the point, you can look across Leeward Channel to Little Water Cay, home of the rock iguana. Stop there, as the shoreline gets rocky and the mangroves soon begin. It is not possible to continue along unless you cut through private property. At the easternmost end of the island are the Heaving Down Rock and Walkin marinas, accessible only by boat and by car. This is where the ferry to North and South Caicos is based.
