Where to Stay at Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages

Just three weeks ago, Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages and Spa officially opened Key West Village, bringing the all-inclusive resort’s total room count to 758. Not only does the new village help the resort meet increasing demand, but it also gives guests—whose return rate is an impressive 85 percent—three new restaurants to choose from, as well as more room categories, from studios to four-bedroom suites. With small pools and enclosed courtyards, Key West Village provides a more intimate feel than the resort’s other three villages. Together, each of the property’s four distinct villages offers something special: The Caribbean, Italian, and Key West villages are all located directly on Grace Bay Beach, a luxurious 12-mile stretch of sand along the Atlantic Ocean, while the resort’s French Village is closer to activities and events.

The property may spread over 75 acres, but if you’re traveling with friends, it’s easy for each family to choose different villages and still spend plenty of time with the group. The entire property comes together in a way that truly creates one of the most worry-free environments you’ll ever experience on vacation: Discovery Dining lets you sample any of the resort’s 19 restaurants, kids zones are scattered throughout, shopping is in a central location, and you’re never far from an open bar (liquor included!). It all makes for very happy wandering. There’s a lot to love about each village, but matching your family’s vacation style (active and fast-paced, or peaceful and laid-back) to the right village will greatly enhance your experience. Below, some things to consider before you book.

Key West Village

Pros

  • Key West Village has the resort’s only apartment-style accommodations, including a kitchen, a washer, and a dryer. Your room here will feel like the homiest of home-bases.
  • Like the Florida island it’s named after, this section has a decidedly laid-back and quieter feel than the other villages.
  • You’ll be closest to the beach here and enjoy the best beachfront dining. Bayside restaurant is the resort’s only two-level lounge that overlooks the beach. Directly above it is the Sky Lounge, with even better beach views, and Neptunes, an excellent a la carte seafood eatery, is right next door.
  • One of the resort’s two well-equipped fitness rooms is here.

Cons

  • The accommodations were originally owned by The Veranda Resort and Residences. Because of this, the village can have a different, distant feel from the rest of the resort, and some minor details reveal that the rooms aren’t completely adapted to resort living. For example: our sliding bathroom door from the master bedroom was very difficult to grip; you may have to ask for additional garbage cans or patio chairs; and the large kitchen space seems a bit extraneous.
  • The pools are much smaller, but because Key West was originally a separate resort, the village has its own kids’ club and spa. The other three areas share kids’ club and spa amenities.

Italian Village

Pros

  • At the heart of the resort, the Italian Village has the resort’s largest pool, with a swim-up bar and a toddler swimming area that’s the perfect playground. Toddlers can stand waist-deep in the water and play with toys independently, splashing through fountains and meeting friends while you keep watch and relax poolside with beautiful seaside views.
  • The family suites here are fantastic. The kids’ room sleeps three with a bunk bed and a trundle bed, and includes a TV with an Xbox.

Cons

  • This really is the resort’s central location, so it’s often the most expensive.
  • As the bustling hub of resort activity, the Italian Village can be very loud. Luckily, soundproof sliding glass doors easily tune everything out.

Caribbean Village

Pros

  • As the original area of Beaches Turks & Caicos, the Caribbean Village has the most authentic Caribbean feel, with low-rise, colorfully painted stucco villas, and bowers of flowers.
  • You’ll find more activities and games for family fun, including pool volleyball, a basketball court, a life-size chessboard, and yoga classes on the beach.
  • The pizzeria is great for lunch, and it’s one of the few things you may have to wait for (30-40 minutes at most). Enjoy the resort’s finest dining at Schooners Seafood Grill for the freshest fish.
  • Excellent off-shore snorkeling is nearest to the stretch of beach in front of the Caribbean Village.

Cons

  • As the original village, the Caribbean is a bit dated, with older rooms and smaller pools.

French Village

Pros

  • The French Village is closest to Pirates’ Island—one of the largest water parks in the Caribbean, where kids can happily splash around all day. The pool here is almost as big as the resort’s largest pool in the Italian Village.
  • Although rates vary throughout the year, the French Village has some of the resort’s least expensive rooms, but it also includes the highest-category butler service villas, along with the Caribbean and Key West Villages.
  • Take advantage of the proximity to the Beaches stage, where you’ll enjoy variety shows almost every night.
  • Sip the resort’s best cup of coffee at the Café de Paris, a French-style patisserie that’s also the one spot where you’ll find a real cappuccino. For a fun poolside snack, take an afternoon trip to the bistro to pick up an iced latte and tasty desserts.

Cons

  • The French Village is the only resort area without direct beach access.
