The best bargains for Asian and East Indian silks and cottons can be found in downtown Port of Spain, on Frederick Street and around Independence Square. Recordings of local calypsonians and steel-pan performances as well as chutney (local East Indian music) are available throughout the islands and make great gifts. Note that duty-free goods are available only at the airport upon departure or arrival.
