Cruise-Ship Travel to Trinidad

Port of Spain is a bustling and sprawling metropolis with seemingly endless traffic jams. The capital of the twin-island republic is a work in progress, with government investing billions of dollars into upgrading the port area and many other parts of the city. The scale of this project means that the port will be a construction zone for some time to come, but the result is expected to be a mile-long facility designed to offer a range of facilities and services to visitors.

Because of the driving habits of Trinidadians and the often-confusing road signs and narrow roads, it's not a good idea to rent a car. Taxis flock to the port whenever a cruise ship arrives. Authorized taxis always have a license plate starting with the letter H (for hire). Though rates are technically fixed, it is never a bad idea to negotiate with the driver.
