Tobago is not that lively after dark, but there's usually some form of nightlife to be found. Whatever you do the rest of the week, don't miss the huge impromptu party, dubbed Sunday School, that gears up after midnight on Saturday on all the street corners of Buccoo and breaks up around dawn. Pick your band, hang out for a while, then move on. In downtown Scarborough on weekend nights you can also find competing sound systems blaring at informal parties that welcome extra guests. In addition, "blockos" (spontaneous block parties) spring up all over the island; look for the hand-painted signs. Tobago also has harvest parties on Sunday throughout the year, when a particular village extends its hospitality and opens its doors to visitors.
Grafton Beach Resort has some kind of organized cabaret-style event a few nights each week. Even if you hate that touristy stuff, check out Les Couteaux Cultural Group, which does a high-octane dance version of Tobagonian history.
As many locals as visitors frequent Kariwak Village on Friday and Saturday nights, when one of the better local jazz-calypso bands almost always plays. Expect more of an older crowd. The fruity cocktails here are the best on the island.
This sure bet for raucous late-night fun is open from 7 pm to 4 am Thursday through Saturday. It's across the road from Crown Point's only gas station.
