High season runs from mid-December through mid-April; in the off-season, rates at large resorts may be reduced by up to 40%. Seasonal discounts vary dramatically by resort and by island, with some of the luxury resorts offering specials periodically throughout the year; the most extravagant resorts, however, are always expensive. The small, less expensive hotels and guesthouses have little or no seasonal variation in their rates.
