Fodor's Expert Review Grand View Beach Hotel

Indian Bay Rd., Villa Point, Arnos Vale, St. Vincent, VC0274, St. Vincent and the Grenadines

The unobstructed view of the Grenadines from this stylish, friendly, family-run hotel perched on a very private promontory is very grand indeed. In the 1940s, Tony Sardine's family purchased 8 acres on a beautiful point of land overlooking Indian Bay; they used the great house—once a cotton-drying house—as a private residence until 1964, when it became the Grand View Hotel. Rooms are large and attractively furnished with antiques; most offer sweeping vistas of the Grenadines. Luxury rooms have broad terraces with ocean views, particularly striking at sunset; two honeymoon suites have king beds and whirlpool tubs. Hallways and walls are filled with the artwork of Caroline Sardine, the owners' daughter. Guests and locals enjoy drinks at the Sundowner Bar, West Indian, Continental-style cuisine at Wilkie's restaurant, and daytime snacks on the beach at the Grand View Grill. Sailboats and windsurfing and snorkeling equipment are complimentary, but you have to hike down a rather steep hill to reach Indian Bay Beach.
