Ferry

The Autoridad de Transporte Marítimo (Maritime Transportation Authority) runs passenger ferries from the terminal in Ceiba, about a 90-minute drive from San Juan, to Culebra and Vieques. Trips take 90 minutes, and there are multiple departures daily. Food kiosks on Vieques start the day early to accommodate morning arrivals and departures. Culebra has casual eateries within a short walking distance of the ferry.

Tickets ($2 each way for Vieques, $2.25 for Culebra) must be purchased in advance at www.porferry.com, which also has current schedules. Note that ferries have a limited number of seats, and priority is given to island residents, so plan in advance. Also, schedules and service can sometimes be disrupted due to weather and other circumstances.
