Fodor's Expert Review Cap Est Lagoon Resort & Spa

Le François, n/a Martinique, 97240, Martinique Fodor's Choice

Editor's Note: This property is currently undergoing renovations.

At Martinique's most exclusive resort, the caring staff strives to make sure that guests, housed in a series of contemporary villas decorated with Southeast Asian influences and (mostly) with views of the crystalline lagoon and private plunge pools, leave satisfied. All suites have been refreshed, and the best news is that prices have dropped substantially. The least expensive garden rooms have water views from their second-floor bedrooms but no private plunge pools. All suites have CD/DVD players and plasma TVs. All—even the junior suites—are spacious, well designed, and serenely quiet. In-room Wi-Fi is both free and consistent. Discriminating guests (as well as nonguests) can indulge themselves at the elegant spa here. Sports activities include kayaking, paddleboarding, kite- and windsurfing, yoga, small catamarans, and tennis lessons. New is the creative kids club and renewed, is Le Cohi bar with a fun, Cuban theme. The gastronomic restaurant is closed, except for holidays and special events. However, the sea-view Campeche, now open for lunch and dinner, has just received an important culinary award from Gault et Millau. In season, there is light entertainment, like jazz trios.

Suites 26 through 30 have incredible views of water and mountains.
