A fun beach bar adjacent to Porto, the fabulous beachfront restaurant belonging to Balcones del Atlantico, El Balconcito is open all day, every day. It offers a special menu from Porto to help cushion the sting of the house specialty—chupitos. Served in tall pony glasses, these drinks consist of a lethal dose of white rum mixed with flavors such as passion fruit (chinola) or—the best—ginger. Run by the owners of the original Mosquito Art Bar which was destroyed by the devastating fire that tore through Pueblo Los Pescadores in 2012, they have regrouped and have opened a new Mosquito Art Bar, which is next to the Palapa Hotel in Punta Poppy. It's open from 6 pm until late, and it serves chupitos, of course, and light fare.
