Fodor's Expert Review The Beach
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
Some of the best food in Samaná is served up for lunch (and lunch only) in a wooden, Victorian-style bungalow with an alfresco terrace restaurant facing beautiful Playa Cosón—decidedly not the usual beach shack. Hidden past a long stretch of lawn and behind a grove of coconut trees, it's on a 12-mile (19-km) stretch of virgin beach. You'll find the same refined ambience as its big sister, The Peninsula House. The daily menu is concise and changes based on what fresh ingredients, fish, and lobster are available. Lunch here on fine china makes for a cherished travel memory.
