The gorgeous stone facade of this adults-only resort—a stellar keystone of Cap Cana—is reminiscent of the 16th-century Alcázar de Colón in Santo Domingo, and the interior public spaces are influenced by Dominican colonial-style mansions. Standard accommodations are junior suites with patios, some with water views and beach access (larger suites have Caribbean views). Room decor is chic, with rich woods, marble baths, fine linens, plump pillows, and silk robes. Villas have a separate reception area in "The Fortress," where champagne and other delights welcome guests. The resort has five pools and a luxurious spa and fitness center. Restaurants have been upgraded and are now quite good. Easy access to the Marina Cap Cana increases the number of high-quality restaurants.
