When to Go

Although peak season is technically December through April, July is a hectic month owing to Santiago's carnival and the Festival del Caribe. Make reservations well in advance during these peak times. The spring and fall off-seasons see prices drop by as much as 25% in places, though hotels may offer fewer amenities (some may even close entirely). Discounts during these times may not be as great in Guardalavaca—one of the driest spots in the off-season—and Santiago, which tends to draw visitors year-round.
