Fodor's Expert Review Walsingham Nature Reserve and Blue Hole Park

It's said that Irish poet Tom Moore (1779–1852) wrote several of his most famous poems while residing in Bermuda, and the lovely parkland just past the causeway has been dedicated to his memory. Known locally as "Tom Moore's Jungle," the Walsingham Nature Reserve and Blue Hole Park encompass 12 acres of nearly unspoiled forest with a secluded and shallow beach, canopied trails, pristine grottoes, and caves. The area is popular for swimming, snorkeling, and rock climbing, as well as viewing marine life from parrotfish to the occasional nurse shark. A highlight, however, is the crystal-clear pond near Tom Moore's Tavern, one of the island's oldest establishments.
