Mosher's designs grace the necks, wrists, and fingers of locals and visitors alike; look no further for the perfect souvenir of time spent in Bermuda.
A boutique that wouldn't feel out of place in a stylish New York City neighborhood, Atelerie carries designer labels such as Loeffler Randall, Isabel Marant, and Helmut Lang in this beautifully designed space. But the selection of jewelry is the highlight here. Look for exclusive designed Bermuda island pendants by Asha by ADM in the line's signature mother of pearl and 14kt gold or the delicate and colorful beaded bracelets with the island's silhouette in 18kt gold by Gigi Clozeau.
Owner Hannah Willmott doesn't believe in wasting space, so she crammed as many books as she could into her small bookstore. The island's largest permanent craft outlet is in the Dockyard's old Cooperage building, which dates from 1831. Dozens of artists show their work here, and this is the place to go to find that unusual gift, from Bermuda-cedar hair clips to local chutneys and jams. Hand-painted glassware, sterling silver jewelry, handmade toys, and sand sculptures are also among the pretty offerings.
Renowned artist Alfred Birdsey, who painted Bermuda scenes for more than 60 years, died in 1996, but thanks to his daughter, Jo Birdsey Linberg, the studio remains open and the tradition continues. Watercolors cost from $100 and oils from $350 to $1,000. Prints of Birdsey's paintings are also available on note cards. The studio is usually open weekday mornings, but call before you visit, as appointments are preferred.
Easily recognizable by its distinct yellow facade, this shop has been clothing Bermuda's most fashionable in European designer wear since 1957. Eclectic novelty items from Europe make great gifts, too. Calypso's sister shop in Butterfield Place, Voila!, carries Longchamp handbags and Johnston & Murphy men's shoes.
The family-owned and -operated shop, established in 1937, has the island's largest selection of T-shirts, with creatively designed logos in hundreds of styles.
