While this restaurant is known for its elegant interior and modern take on European fare, on Friday nights this is where the after-work crowd goes to unwind witih a glass of wine before heading along Front Street for a late-night bar crawl. The international wine list has abundant choices.

With a wall of doors that open up on to Front Street, one of the widest selections of beers on the island, and multiple large television screens around the room, the Dog House is pretty much "where we all end up," and it's a very happy place. Along with a great beer selection, there are various cocktails on offer, and bar snacks are served until 10 pm. Multiple DJs play mostly R&B, soca, and Top 40 hits; during the summer DJs take over upstairs at the sister event space, Cafe Cairo. On weekends, the place is packed with late-night revelers.

Take a seat at the massive and detailed Victorian-style bar that wouldn't be out of place in a London pub. You can opt for an expertly mixed cocktail or taste a selection from the extensive beer menu. This is a great spot for late-afternoon drinks, particularly on the Front Street porch perfect for people-watching.

A cross between an outdoor café and a sports bar, this place (generally called just The Beach) is clean and relatively cheap, with large television screens showing live sports during the day. At night it operates somewhere between a bar and a nightclub, attracting a mixed (and often rowdy) collection of tourists and locals. The outdoor seating area gets especially crowded into the wee hours of the morning. There's usually a DJ, and sometimes bands; if you're walking down Front Street and you hear loud music, it's probably coming from The Beach.

With a restaurant in front and a sushi bar called Yashi in the back, Coconut Rock has a relaxed and friendly buzz. This is more of a locals' hangout, probably because it's hard to find, tucked away underneath Hamilton's main shopping street. Huge TV screens show music videos and sports. Watch out—the friendly bar staff are more than happy to help you get tipsy or, as Bermudians say, "tapped"! Don't confuse this place with Coconuts, the upscale restaurant at the Reefs resort in Southampton.

With live music or a DJ on weekends and all the expected beverages, as well as a host of fun drinks like frozen mudslides, homey Flanagan's Irish Pub is a firm favorite of folks who like to dance and talk over drinks. Adjoining the Irish pub is its sister bar, Outback Sports Bar, at the same address. Twenty-two giant screens show live sports, and the walls are plastered with photographs of Bermuda's sporting heroes.

This place serves a splendid variety of down-to-earth pub fare in a dark-wood, barnlike setting. If you're spending the day at Dockyard, it's a great place to get out of the sun and try a Bermuda Rum Swizzle or sample a flight of Bermudian-brewed beers. There's a weekly quiz night as well as live performances on Monday night, and karaoke starts at 10 pm on Thursday.

The popular restaurant and bar, decorated with rich oak paneling and polished brass, has reliably decent live entertainment, especially on weekends. There's a grand piano in the bar, and local entertainers often perform sing-along sessions. A chill, Sunday-night jazz session is a great way to recharge your batteries.

Small, cozy Hog Penny, aka the Cheers bar, was the inspiration for the Bull & Finch Pub in Boston. With dark-wood paneling and hearty, comforting fare like steak-and-kidney pie and bangers and mash, the Hog Penny will likely remind you more of an English country pub than a Boston hangout. Live music plays most nights in the summer, and the floor is cleared for dancing. It can be very busy.

During the high season from April through September, the hotel's Marina Nights happy hour is the place to be seen on Friday from 5 to 9 pm. Enjoy tasty cocktails, live music, and a selection of light bites. The views of elegant yachts in the harbor draw a lively crowd of locals and visitors alike to the magnificent marina of the famous hotel. The vibe is trendy, so don your stylish duds for this night.

As well as being a relaxed and traditional pub and restaurant, the North Rock Brewing Company is one of only a few places on the island to get a genuine Bermuda-brewed ale. Try a sampler for a taste of all six of North Rock's famous beers—ranging from the sharp St. David's Light Ale to the head-spinning Whale of Wheat. The relaxed outdoor seating area is the perfect place for a breather if the pub gets too noisy.

Casual, friendly Robin Hood is popular for inexpensive pub fare, pizza, and beer served on the patio under the stars. There's almost always something sports related on the TV, and a late-night snack menu is served until 11 pm. There's a popular quiz night on Tuesdays and happy hour prices throughout the week, making it worth the short walk from Front Street.

With intimate dining areas and expansive bars, both Seabreeze and downstairs (right on the sand) Mickey's Beach Bar overlook the cool blue waters just beyond the south shore's Elbow Beach. On weeknights, this complex is simply perfect for a quiet evening for two; on Friday and Saturday things heat up with tapas, cocktails, and live music.

An unpretentious bar with down-to-earth bar staff, this spot also has great views of the water. It's a decent spot for a quiet pint in the West End thanks to its outdoor terrace. Pull up a chair and appreciate a true Bermudian watering hole at one of the summertime barbecues.

Commonly known as Dockies, this bar attracts a loud and fun-loving crowd that can linger long into the night. Sports fanatics and competitive drinkers gather en masse to support their favorite teams, face off in weekly beer pong tournaments, and play a couple of rounds of darts. The no-frills bar at the entrance always offers a lively party atmosphere and reasonably priced pub food. On weekends, the large back room is opened to make space for partiers and a live DJ. There's sometimes a cover charge for theme parties, bands, and tie-ins with local sporting events.

With a cosmopolitan feel and a harbor-view terrace, the Pickled Onion's restaurant and bar cater to a well-heeled crowd of locals and visitors. Live music, usually pop, plays from about 10 pm to 1 am on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday in the summer. Open mic nights are extremely popular, as is the dance floor.
