This light-filled bakery that sells authentic French pastries is not only beautiful to look at but smells incredible. The traditional pastries include flaky, buttery croissants and soft, rich chocolate chip cookies and are all baked on the premises, as are the sourdough loaves, all using a specially imported French flour. There are also housemade sandwiches that come on the bakery's baguettes—Le Country, on walnut raisin bread with goat cheese, honey, and prosciutto, is simple but full of flavor. Grab a freshly brewed cup of coffee and a delectable treat, and enjoy the sights of Front Street from the communal table or at one of the sidewalk spots.
Located at the entrance of the Royal Naval Dockyard, the Anchor offers a range of contemporary and seafood dishes. Open early for breakfast, the menu has local favorites like codfish breakfast, and the chefs are happy to prepare meals to suit your dietary needs. Call ahead to find out about live music and karaoke.
Despite what the name suggests, this restaurant is right in the heart of Hamilton, and a good place to savor the day's fresh fish special while enjoying an afternoon filled with people-watching and happy hour drink specials on the open-air patio. It's the ideal stop-off during a day of shopping, offering plentiful, inexpensive, and quick food—from a hearty three-course lunch to an afternoon snack, from burgers and sandwiches to salads and steaks. If you're feeling peckish on a night out, this is the place to come, as food is served until midnight every night.
Bringing coffeehouse culture to Front Street, along with great coffee, including tasty options such as Snickerdoodle Frappé (a blended frozen coffee with hazelnut and vanilla syrup and cinnamon), Brew also offers delicious breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, and quiches as well as specials and their famous guacamole and chips. After your caffeine fix, come here for the craft beer from Dockyard Brewing Company and selection of wine on tap. There's plenty of seating including outside at the sidewalk tables.
Light and airy, with an upscale hotel feel, the Crown & Anchor offers everything from quiet afternoon tea service to lively happy hour specials. The casual fare for lunch and dinner focuses on island pub favorites such as fish-and-chips and chicken curry, as well as small bites perfect for sharing. Businesspeople, hotel guests, couples, and families will enjoy the attentive service and outdoor seating area. Be sure to take a stroll along the marina after your meal.
With an emphasis on fresh, healthy ingredients, Devil's Isle's large menu has plenty of creative options, many available in both small and large plates. The small plates are the perfect way to try a few different options and share at the long communal table that dominates the center of this small, buzzy space. The rockfish taco and flash-fried calamari are standouts among the sharing plates. But don't overlook the healthy, but tasty, harvest bowls. There are several options to pick from that are chock-full of unusual ingredients like puffed amaranth seeds, kelp noodles, and raw cacao. Tailor bowls to your tastes with a choice of sauces, grains, and protein, including vegan options. Next door is a take-out counter where you can get the restaurant's signature salads and sandwiches to go, along with a cup of locally roasted coffee or a super green smoothie.
When you want a quick coffee or a gourmet sandwich in Dockyard, this is the place to stop, just across from the Visitor Services Centre. Focusing on simple, familiar dishes and delectable house-made pastries, the charming little bistro offers afternoon tea (add Champagne if you wish) under the golden Bermuda sunshine.
Bermuda's only Irish pub is a dining, music, and sports hot spot with a balcony overlooking Hamilton Harbour. Choose from an extensive list of tasty homemade comfort-food classics such as beer-battered fish-and-chips and shepherd's pie, while sipping a handcrafted island cocktail. Sports fans will want to check out their sister bar, Outback Sports Bar, which offers a long list of libations, as well as TVs showing the latest games.
No matter what you're craving, there's something to indulge in at this Church Street bakery, just across from the main bus terminal. Whether one of their light and fluffy doughnuts in traditional and fun flavors that change regularly to building your own sundae or the loaded milkshakes, make sure to come here hungry. Along with a wide variety of sweets there is also a selection of savory items, including salads, hot dogs, and panini. There's also a location inside the Bookmart at Brown & Co. with a more condensed menu.
Set inside the lush interior of the historic Rosedon Hotel, Huckleberry features classic Southern dishes paired with Bermudian flavors. There's plenty of fresh options, featuring local ingredients including bountiful salads and fresh takes on favorites like the Huckleberry tacos. Seating out on the wide veranda overlooking the lush gardens of the hotel makes for a first-class dining experience. The restaurant also serves a popular weekend brunch.
Journey outside the familiar city center to North East Hamilton and Court Street and you'll find Jamaican food at its best. The Thomas family is proud of their Jamaican heritage and wants everyone to taste Caribbean classics like jerk and curry chicken, fried dumplings, and beans and rice. The shop also provides tasty homemade cakes and cookies. It's no-frills food, but the prices are good and the portions are huge. The take-out service makes for a great beach picnic. This firm favorite with the locals also has a branch in Hamilton Parish at the Bailey's Bay Cricket Club.
From burgers and fries to a fish cake on a bun, the menu at Misty's features all the classic Bermudian fast-food favorites in unfussy, truly Bermudian style. This small eatery offers takeout only, but with Somerset Long Bay a mere jaunt away, it's the perfect place to pick up a few dishes for lunch on the sand or to take home after a day in the sun.
Tucked inside the Washington Mall, this café run by a husband-and-wife team is best known for its outstanding breakfasts, changing lunch specials, and friendly service. Try the plate-sized fluffy pancake topped with homemade candied walnuts, or give the Azorean eggs Benedict, topped with crispy chorizo and fresh Portuguese cheese, a try. The lunch board offers homemade soups, salads, quiches, and sandwiches, but the pecan-crusted chicken and biscuit sandwich topped with peach slaw is the standout.
If the idea is to eat where Bermudians do, you won't be disappointed at the New Woody's Sports Bar. Situated on Boaz Island with views of the Great Sound, Woody's is the perfect stop for an inexpensive bite and a chat with the friendly locals. The menu is written up daily to take advantage of availability (in fact, they often catch the fish themselves), so stop by for a drink, a fish sandwich, or to soak up the atmosphere in relaxed style.
