The German owners take their European cuisine seriously, and they please and surprise hotel guests and those from other resorts who drive far to dine here. Although Lighthouse Restaurant is casual and intimate like Inagua's overall character, it is considered the best high-end restaurant on the island. Known for its stunning sunsets, the octagon-shape restaurant overlooks the ocean and the historic lighthouse. Don't let the name scare you—it's named after the Knowles family's well-known construction company and the owners' two sons. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be served in the cool inside or out, and feature authentic Bahamian and American fare. The restaurant overlooks the roaring Atlantic, with a beach nearby, a big pool, a whirlpool, and a tiki bar on the large outside deck. The chef-owners Chloe (pronounced "Klo") and Bertram Knowles serve some of the best food on the island (including Bahamian stewed fish for breakfast with 24-hours notice)—and the prices are affordable (Delmonico steak for just $32 and lobster for $28). Clean, bright, popular with the locals, and with ocean views, it's a great place to enjoy a drink and hearty meal. If you can catch their Friday pig roast, you'll enter succulence heaven. This is one of the few restaurants open on Sunday.

The Christopher's open-air restaurant has buffets during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with the latter changing themes nightly: Caribbean Night has local fare such as conch and fresh fish, and other themes include French, Mexican, and Mediterranean. Carving stations and European pastries and breads are impossible to skip, and simple pastas and pizzas are mainstays for the finicky eater. Don't skip the white-chocolate-chip bread, which is so good you'll order some loaves to bring back with you. If you're not staying at Club Med, a dinner pass will cost you $70 and is good from 7 pm to 1 am, including an open bar and the night's scheduled entertainment. All-you-can-eat breakfast passes are $20 and good from 8 to 10 am; lunch passes are $40 and available from 12:30 to 3 pm. The staff is friendly and will sit with you explaining all the resort and island have to offer.

Yardie's owners, Odette and Derrick Rolle, serve up large-size genuine Jamaican and Bahamian dishes such as jerk chicken, steamed pork chops, curried mutton, barbecue ribs, and their famous fresh conch salad. If you really want an island meal, try the breakfast grits with tuna or corned beef. They are one of the few spots open all day long and the only stop in northern Cat Island for ice cream. This place is no-frills, but a great shady spot to stop for lunch, a snack, or just a cold drink and a game of dominoes. You can even rent a car for $70 a day.
