Fodor's Expert Review Peace and Plenty Bonefish Lodge
Queen's Hwy., Ferry, Exuma, Bahamas
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
The Out Islands' swankiest bonefishing lodge is on a peninsula 10 mi south of George Town. Dark wood and handsome hunter-green accents lend a gentleman's-club character to the bar and dining room, where photos of anglers and their catches grace the walls; there's also a fly-tying station. The large rooms have white rattan furnishings, louvered wooden doors, and private balconies overlooking the water. Guests will find contemplative restful spots on the large deck, upstairs veranda, or in a hammock on the sandy point that juts out beyond the lodge's fishpond. The dining room is open sporadically so call ahead (closed Tuesday); lodge guests can opt for an all-inclusive plan or dine à la carte. Most guests buy room-fishing packages with a three-night minimum, which start at $945 per person. The lodge has a popular pool table, poker table, and fly-tying table.
