Fodor's Expert Review Lubber's Landing

Elbow Cay, Great Abaco Island, Bahamas Fodor's Choice

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

You'll come to Lubber's Landing as a guest, and more than likely leave as a friend of the owners Austin and Amy. They're quick to point out that their little piece of paradise on Lubber's Quarters Cay is not for everyone, but if you're looking for something a little different, and like rustic but still demand creature comforts, then this is the place for you. Spend your time exploring in your rental boat or lounging on either the small beach on-property, or five minutes away at the gorgeous Tahiti Beach. The reception desk is actually the bar, which can get quite busy during the day. Although there are no planned activities, if there's something you want to do, whether it's spearfishing, kiteboarding, or a nighttime beach bonfire, Austin and Amy will make it happen. The three cottages are nestled in the natural forest away from the bar and beach. All have a chic, eclectic decor and provide complete privacy, making it perfect for a romantic getaway. A boat really is essential, and it's best to coordinate that with the hotel when you make your booking to ensure the best rates and availability.
