Fodor's Expert Review Chub Cay Resort & Marina

Chub Cay, , Bahamas

Chub Cay Resort & Marina is now open again after a rich Texas investor restarted its engines in 2014. Many are happy about this because it's such a useful nexus and port of entry for yachts traveling from Florida to Nassau and the wider Bahamas. Chub Cay is also a favorite deep-sea and bonefishing destination with the Tongue of the Ocean canyons at its doorstep and the vast Great Bahama Bank bending west to the Joulters Cays. The club offers 15 motel-like rooms and three villa homes. The bar and grill is open for three meals a day serving burgers, sandwiches, and native Bahamian dinners. The marina and its facilities are modern and comprehensive. The 800-acre development plans to build many more villas, marina town houses, restaurants, and a shopping village, but it could be long time coming. Currently under construction is a new all-in-one three-story clubhouse. A beach fronts the marina with an infinity swimming pool, and another stretches over a mile east with great swimming and snorkeling. Activities are limited but to get on the water, Chub Cay is home to four expert fishing guides with skiffs and boats.
