Fodor's Expert Review Serenity Cottages
Shoal Bay Village, n/a Anguilla, AI2640, Anguilla
Despite the name, these aren't cottages but large, fully equipped, and relatively affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments (and studios created from them) in a small complex set in a lush garden at the far end of glorious Shoal Bay Beach. There are two restaurants: one on a breezy veranda and the other on the beach. Guests gather on mismatched Adirondack-type chairs for sundowner cocktails. But there isn't much attention from staff, so stay here only if you are self-sufficient. There are also laundry facilities. Units vary in view and accessibility, so discuss your preferences when you reserve.
PROS
- big apartments
- quiet end of beach
- snorkeling outside the door
- weeklong packages
CONS
- no pool
- more condo than hotel in terms of staff
- location requires a car and extra time to drive to the West End
