Safety

While Samoa is considered very safe thanks to the strong influence of the chief, church, and family, assaults and burglaries do occur. It is advised to avoid nightclubs at closing time (when fights may break out) as well as off-the-beaten-track and dimly lit areas. There have also been reports of occasional attacks by stray, vicious dogs. Travelers should not travel by taxi at night and should avoid beaches and remote areas after dark.
