Sit in the cozy downstairs bar with its imitation log fireplace or try the upstairs restaurant, which has dark leather seating. The off-beat wall hangings and muted decor make for a soothing experience. Tapas are served in both areas. More sustaining main courses range from Canterbury duck with Gorgonzola gnocchi to roasted Wairarapa lamb with a minty crushed pea salad. The crème brûlée with rum-and-raisin financier makes a sweet finish for either. There is also a prix-fixe menu with wine pairings available.
