Ferry Travel

Visitors traveling from the North Island can take either the Interislander or Bluebridge ferry from Wellington to Picton, the northern entrance to the South Island. The trip is scenic, especially through sheltered Tory Channel in the Marlborough Sounds, though Cook Strait itself can be rough at times. The one-way adult fare ranges from NZ$53 to NZ$75. Ferries dock in Picton, right beside the township.
