Fodor's Expert Review Lavendyl Lavender Farm

Inland and just north of the town center, rows of lavender stretch out against the stunning backdrop of Mt. Fyffe and the Seaward Kaikoura Range. At this working 5-acre farm, visitors are welcome to walk through the heavenly scented gardens and from December to February, watch the blossom harvest. In the shop, bunches of lavender hang from the ceiling and lavender mustards, chutneys, soaps, oils, and salves line the shelves. There's a café, of sorts, serving tea and coffee, ice creams, and cold drinks and a few lavender-flavor treats. They also have two rustic self-contained B&B cottages in the garden.
