If you want to hike the Coastal Walkway, around the scenic northern end of the Peninsula, you will need transport to get to each end of the track. Coromandel Discovery Tours will pick you up either in Colville or in Coromandel (or from any accommodation in between) and drive you to Fletcher Bay. From there you can walk to Stony Bay, where you will be met and driven back to your accommodation. The minibus ($125 per person for less than two) can make stops along the way, including at Colville's General Store and the cafe next door, where you can get lunch for the hike. They also provide a range of other trips in the area, on request, and can arrange Auckland Airport transfers.
