Otago, Invercargill, and Stewart Island Planning

Most people spend a few days in Dunedin and migrate south via State Highway 1. Once you reach Balclutha, you can continue south either by staying on the State Highway heading straight for Invercargill or by going via the Catlins on the Southern Scenic Route. The Catlins route is more demanding, but much more scenic. Whichever route you take, by the time you reach Southland, all roads are wide, flat, and point to Invercargill.
