Fodor's Expert Review Christchurch Tram
There's something nostalgic and reassuring about the ding-ding of these heritage trams. After the 2010 earthquake they disappeared from the cityscape for almost three years. Now they are back on the original route from New Regent Street with the addition of a new extended loop of the city. All-day tickets allow you to hop on and off and explore the inner city. You'll pass the remains of the ChristChurch Cathedral and continue along to the Avon River where you can get off for some punting. The Tramway Restaurant departs daily at 7 pm. The Tramway ticket office is in Cathedral Junction but you can buy tickets at other places en route and on board. Tickets can also be bought in a combination pass including Punting, Gondola, and the Caterpillar Botanic Gardens Tour.
