Fodor's Expert Review Agnes Curran
Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.
This small café just off Ponsonby Road tries to recall a time when home baking was served for afternoon tea on plates lined with doilies. You can choose from a counter selection of classic antipodean homemade cakes and cookies, which are duly served with lashings of thick cream and style. It is not ideal for breakfast but offers filled rolls and chicken mustard pie for lunch. The coffee is good. A bank of shelves holds quirky finds for sale: cookware, glassware, and assorted treasures. You can spot a local Oscar-winning designer here from time to time.
