Hours of Operation

Business hours can be a bit scattered in French Polynesia. In general, shops and offices tend to keep hours from 7:30 [am] to 5 [pm], with a two-hour lunch break around 11:30, Monday through Friday. On the weekends, those hours change to 7:30–11:30 [am] on Saturdays, and most establishments are closed on Sundays.

Holidays

French Polynesians love a good celebration, and draw on both Polynesian and French holidays, as well as religious ones, to make up a diverse and colorful calendar. Public holidays, when all businesses and government offices are closed, include New Year's Day, the Arrival of the First Missionaries (March 5), Easter, May Day (May 1), VE Day (May 8), Ascension (late May), Pentecost and Pentecost Monday (early June), International Autonomy Day (June 29), Bastille Day (July 14), Assumption (August 15), All Saints' Day (November 1), Armistice Day (November 11), and Christmas Day.
