Operators offer 4WD safaris around the island, including trips to the Hakauii Valley and Mt. Muake. Guided horseback rides are also offered. One of the better ways to soak up the beauty of the island is by speedboat; you can avoid many of the more rugged roads ashore. With rich fishing nearby, sportfishing charters are readily available.

Dancing is regularly performed—both formally for visitors and also informally. One need only listen for the sound of wooden drums beating to find a group of boys and girls practicing their dances. Audiences are usually welcome and made to dance as well.
