Scuba Diving

The Namena Barrier Reef, 15 miles south of Vanua Levu, includes more than 30 miles of untarnished reef track. Divers are rewarded with swim-throughs, dramatic drop-offs, large and small fish, intricate hard-coral formations and, of course, magnificent soft coral. Jean-Michel Cousteau ranks the site around Namena Island as one of the 10 best in the world. KoroSun Dive also gets out to the Rainbow Reef.

Cousteau Dive Centre. The Jean-Michel Cousteau resort's renowned dive operation dives more than 15 sites in the Koro Sea using up to three custom built dive boats. The boats depart the resort with up to 12 divers each morning between 7:30 and 8:30 am, returning at 1:30 pm for a late lunch. They also offer dive certification classes. Dive Namale. This PADI 5 Star Resort facility is based at the renowned Namale Resort & Spa. As well as having excellent dive sites just 15 minutes from the resort, Dive Namale frequently conducts trips to Namena Marine Reserve where divers enjoy sites like “Yellow Wall,” Grand Central Station, and “The Chimneys.” Dive Namale also schedules trips to the barrier reefs in the Somosomo Straits near Taveuni to dive sites like “Rainbow Reef” and “The Great White Wall.” "Dive Paks" can be prepaid with accommodation bookings for best value. KoroSun Dive. KoroSun Dive, a PADI- and SSI-certified operation, runs day trips to the Rainbow Reef in Somosomo Strait in addition to trips to Namena Barrier Reef.
