Two of the resorts here are overflowing with what's lovingly called "character." Regardless of whether you stay in the dorms or the bure, communal meals, exceedingly friendly staff, and shared facilities ensure nothing comes between you and the island's natural wealth.

Levuka's architecture isn't the only carryover from the past. The genuine friendliness of local store owners, restaurant managers, and most residents will take you back a hundred years as surely as the wood-frame houses. It would be difficult not to greet familiar faces on your second full day in town.
