Getting Here and Around

To reach the island from Melbourne, take the Princes Freeway (M1) southeast to the South Gippsland Highway (M420), and follow this to the Bass Highway (A420). V/Line runs combined train and bus service directly to Cowes, or a train to Stony Point, where a daily passenger ferry runs to Phillip Island.

Transportation

Inter Island Ferries. This daily passenger service connects Stony Point (on the eastern side of the peninsula) to Phillip Island. Park for A$2 or get to the terminus via train. An adult one-way fare is A$13 Victoria. 03/9585–5730; www.interislandferries.com.au.

V/Line. This combination train and bus service goes from Southern Cross Station to Cowes (with change at Dandenong railway station), a journey of 3½ hours. You can also get the V/Line train from suburban Frankston to Stony Point, and change there to a ferry to Cowes. Victoria. 1800/800007; www.vline.com.au.
