Seal Bay Conservation Park Travel Guide

Seal Bay Conservation Park

There are no seals in Seal Bay, but a visit to Seal Bay is a highlight of most people's time on Kangaroo Island—it's one of the only places in the world where you can walk along a beach crowded with wild sea lions. The endangered Australian sea lion is one of the rarest species in the world, Seal Bay is home to around 1,000—the misleading name is thanks to whalers who couldn't tell the difference between seals and sea lions (the latter have ear flaps and can use their back flippers to 'walk' on land, unlike seals). The tours here are some of the best close-up animal encounters of their kind.
