Lady Elliot Island

The closest Great Barrier Reef island to Brisbane, Lady Elliot Island is a highly protected coral cay approximately 85 km (53 miles) northeast of Bundaberg. The 111-acre island is a sanctuary for more than 1,200 species of marine life, which—along with its crystal clear waters and healthy coral—make it one of the top snorkeling and diving destinations on the reef.
