Fodor's Expert Review Ca Marche

$$$ Port Macquarie Australian

Editor's Note: This location is no longer in operation.

This prix-fixe restaurant in the lovely Cassegrain Winery, a 10-minute drive west of Port Macquarie, has always been popular at lunch, as diners gaze out over the sundrenched vines and formal rose gardens, which are magnificent in spring. You may want to go all French and start with the charcuterie plate of traditional cured meats, pâtés, and terrines, or try the local Camden Haven oysters instead. The signature dish is a seafood combination plate while a hearty main is the local eye fillet of beef with red wine jus made from the vineyard's grapes. The vineyard produces a wide variety of wines including Chardonnay, Verdelho, and Rosé, and the cellar door has daily tastings 9–5.
