Dalat Palace Golf Club. The pristine and historic Dalat Pines Golf Club has an 18-hole championship course overlooking Xuan Huong Lake. Built in the 1930s with just six holes after Emperor Bao Dai encountered golf on a trip to France, the course was abandoned in 1945 and languished for nine years until a group of investors rebuilt it as an eight-hole course (with one sponsor per hole). In early 1966, Dalat Palace hosted professional golfers from around the world including Billy Casper, several months before he beat Arnold Palmer to win the U.S. Open at San Francisco's Olympic Club. The course was abandoned again in 1975, after the reunification of Vietnam, and initiated its second comeback in 1993 with a major renovation by a group of American investors. The original clubhouse, built in 1956, is still in use today. A full practice facility complements the golf course and clubhouse, with a 290-yard grass driving range, a putting green, and practice bunkers. Phu Dong Thien Vuong, Dalat, Lam Dong. 263/3516–888; www.golfdalat.com. 9 holes from 1,400,000d, 18 holes from 2,200,000d on weekdays, less for Dalat Palace and Du Parc guests.
