Danang airport (serving Danang and Hoi An) has fast become Vietnam’s third international airport, and makes for a great hub from which to hop between popular destinations within Vietnam. Few international flights service Danang; the most popular are direct services to Siem Reap, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, and Singapore. Although new destinations are slowly being added, most connect north in Hanoi or south in Ho Chi Minh, both a 70-minute flight from Danang.

Hue's Phu Bai Airport serves as a popular hub for flights into central Vietnam, although few international flights offer transport here. Most connect north in Hanoi (1 hour) or south in Ho Chi Minh (70 minutes). Phu Bai Airport is 20 minutes from central Hue.

Dong Hoi airport is the closest gateway to Phong Nha National Park, and Vietnam Airlines runs scheduled flights from Hanoi (1 hour, 25 minutes) and Ho Chi Minh City (1 hour, 40 minutes) several times a week. The airport is 43 km (26 miles), or a one-hour journey, from Phong Nha.
