Train Travel

Trains connecting Ho Chi Minh City with coastal towns to the north arrive and depart from the Saigon Railway Station (Ga Sai Gon) in District 3, about 1 km (½ mile) from the downtown area of District 1. Two main train services depart from here. The Reunification Express travels along Vietnam's "spine" stopping at centers including Nha Trang, Danang, Hue, and finally—about 33 hours after leaving Ho Chi Minh City—Hanoi. A second train service runs from Ho Chi Minh City to Phan Thiet, 20 km (12 miles) from the resort town of Mui Ne. Hotels and travel agents can organize tickets for a small fee, which usually amounts to less than a taxi fare to the Saigon Railway ticketing office.
