Although it couldn't be described as plush, this centrally located hotel has a laid-back atmosphere that many people prefer, and most of its rooms have terraces facing the bay. Standard rooms are aging, but the more modern "deluxe" rooms are worth the extra cost. The Montien is across from the beach, and the ocean breezes cool the hotel. The Garden Restaurant, which has a dance floor and a stage, hosts kitschy lounge singers nightly. The hotel attracts tour groups but isn't overrun with them.
