Why We Like It
Sukhumvit is an ever-changing neighborhood in Bangkok and with the addition of the Hyatt Regency, it will help usher in more great restaurants, shops, and clean(er) nightlife. The hotel itself is both subtle and audacious with nods to modernity and classical Thai style equally. This property does most things right, whether it’s their perfect pool, authentic cuisine, or simply their warm and friendly service. Ideally located next to the BTS sky train (and with its own entrance), the Hyatt Regency is the perfect spot for adventurous tourists, business travelers, and all of their families.

The newest kid on the Sukhumvit hotel block, the Hyatt Regency is a modern hotel that drips with Thai sensibilities. Throughout the property, you can see a dichotomy of humility and modernity from the sleek black façade to the Thai-styled silk-inlaid walls. Hospitality is a premium as the warm and lovely staff goes out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
You Should Know The hotel is directly connected to the Nana BTS train station, but the sky-bridge to connect the hotel to the train isn’t slated to be open until some time in 2019.

Room
Beige and gold, Thai-patterned carpets can be found in all rooms that blend nicely against dark wood walls interlaced with Thai embroidery. All rooms come with giant flat-screen TVs, free bottled water, and have ample outlets by the beds (including USB ports!). Free coffee and tea are also standard, as are the floor-to-ceiling city views, and perfect noise-killing window panes.
Tip If you stay in the suites or club level rooms, you’ll find a Rabbit card that’s pre-loaded with 100 Baht for trips on the sky train.
Bathroom
The highlight of the bathroom is the giant free-standing tub (in all rooms) that sits against the window for epic views of Bangkok. Marble floors lead to wide sinks, rain showers, and an impressive amenity kit so you can leave a ton of toiletries at home. Bath products are by Portico.
You Should Know The windows in the bathrooms have blackout curtains for a reason. The glass is not tinted so you can see the world as well as the world can see you. Just an FYI.
Lobby
A lavish lobby is flanked by giant, black teak-wood and corrugated copper columns atop polished marble floors that are dimly lit by inconspicuous Edison lights. The lobby bar is the main feature (minus the ornate, gold statue of lovers in an embrace), and there are ample gray leather chairs and couches for sipping on signature cocktails or doing the day’s work with window views of Sukhumvit.
Pool
On the 6th floor of the hotel, the angular pool is open from 6am-10pm and provides gorgeous vistas of the surrounding skyline and is surrounded by lush greenery, giving off a jungle vibe in the city. The large deck around the pool is flanked by gray loungers and day beds, and an ever-present staff is on hand to take care of any beverage and snacking needs you might have.
Spa
There’s no spa, but retail space slated to open in 2019 will include a Relax Spa where hotel guests can receive special discounts. Alternatively, there’s a steam room in the locker rooms that services the pool and gym.
Gym
Open 24-hours, the fully equipped, and quite large, gym has floor-to-ceiling window views, Life Fitness machines, free weights, and Kettle bells.
Dining
The main dining outlet of the hotel is the Market Café. Paying homage to local Thai markets, the restaurant serves up a variety of authentic Thai cuisine for lunch and dinner (a western/international breakfast buffet is also on hand here) and also hosts a fanciful high tea.
Drinking
Drinking at the hotel starts in The Lobby Lounge with creatively concocted cocktails along with a solid wine list surrounded by comfy leather chairs and couches. Starting later in 2019, the rooftop bar dubbed Spectrum will take up the top three floors of the hotel (29-31) and will undoubtedly provide guests with some of the best views in Bangkok.

Getting Around
Starting in 2019, the hotel will be directly connected via elevated walkway to the Nana BTS station. But for the moment, you’ll have to walk a whole two extra minutes to catch a ride. The hotel is right atop Sukhumvit road, which is filled with amazing restaurants, fun (and salacious) nightlife, and ample areas for shopping. Because of the access to the train, getting around to most places in the city is a cinch.
Restaurants
This area of Sukhumvit has a great mix of ethnic cuisines including African, Middle Eastern, and Indian. One of the best Indian spots in town is Punjab Grill (6-minute walk), a decadent joint with an inventive and tongue burning menu filled with surprises. If you’re tired of Thai food, head down to Pizza Pala Romana (6-minute walk), which just so happens to have the most authentic Roman cuisine in the city--get the Cacio e Pepe and/or Amatriciana if you want to feel Italy through your veins.
Bars
If you’re looking for Bangkok’s seedier side, you can hit up either Nana Plaza (9-minute walk) or Soi Cowboy (9-minute walk) where you can find Go Go bars, karaoke bars, live music, and just about everything else you can imagine.
