Kamala Beach

Unlike the more upscale enclaves to the north, Kamala Beach has some reasonably priced accommodations that attract longer-stay visitors, and is a good launchpad for the rest of the island, as it retains its calm and quiet. The area, a curving strip of coral sand embraced by coconut palms south of Bang Thao, suffered some of the worst destruction on Phuket during the 2004 tsunami.
