Why We Like It
For peace and sanity among the chaotic streets of Bangkok, there are few hotels that do it better. The moment you enter the grounds, you’re met with lush foliage, zen-like lotus ponds, and subtle design that helps evoke a meditative state. High-end hoteliers will love the array of amenities, the top-rate service, and the one-of-a-kind dining options. Though it’s going through a renovation, it’s still an ideal spot for short- or long-term stays.

Leaving the busy stretch of Sathorn Road and into the expansive property of The Sukhothai feels like entering a different world altogether. The noisy streets of Bangkok disappear as you pass a teak-wood Thai-style house, serene garden pond, and follow a long, wood-slatted walkway towards the entrance. Once inside, the beautiful hotel evokes a city oasis that caters to a well-heeled clientele looking for incredible service and a little peace and quiet from the city.

Room
Rooms are bathed in teak wood and many offer beautiful views of the hotel’s inner courtyard gardens and ponds. TVs are flush inside the walls and offerings of daily fruit and chocolates are splayed on the work desks. Water, tea, and coffee is complimentary as well.
Tip For a zen-like stay, reserve the Garden Suite. Here you’ll find curtained beds, high ceilings, and a patio that sits right on top the peaceful inner pond.
Bathroom
Bathrooms have separate tubs and showers with wooden floors and black marble countertops. Elle Spa products are standard. If you like mirrors, you won’t be disappointed as they’re pretty much lining every surface of the bathrooms.
Lobby
The peaceful lobby is sectioned off by countless columns and you’ll see a multitude of Thai artifacts on display throughout. There is ample seating that is perfect for reading a book or having a small meeting with colleagues.
Tip From Friday to Sunday, there’s a chocolate buffet in the lobby. Yes, an entire buffet with nothing but chocolate. You’re welcome.
Pool
The pool is currently under renovation, but upon completion, guests can expect more serenity in addition to a full food and beverage menu.
Spa
There are seven treatment rooms at Spa Botanica and there are a range of options including massages, facials, wraps, scrubs, and more. One of the rooms has a balcony with an outdoor hot tub.
Gym
The gym is currently under renovation.
Dining
There are great dining options at the hotel including an Italian joint, bakery/café, and international buffet. The star of the hotel is at Celadon, an award-winning Thai restaurant housed in a teak-wood style building that sits on a lotus pond at the front of the hotel.
Drinking
The Zuk Bar is the main drinking den on the property. With stunning courtyard views, classic cocktails, and live music the bar is a sophisticated spot for a high-end crowd.
Tip Thursday is Ladies Night and with that comes a two-hour period from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with free-flowing booze. There’s a dress code as well.

Getting Around
The hotel offers a free shuttle to the closest BTS Skytrain station, but it’s also just as easy to walk to more pedestrian-friendly streets. Cabs are easy to come by, but the traffic on Sathorn can be so bad that you’ll often get to your destination faster on foot.
Restaurants
Next door is the COMO Metropolitan Hotel where inside is Nahm (2-minute walk), a new wave Thai restaurant that is consistently rated as one of the 50 best in Asia. La Table De Tee (8-minute walk) is an exquisite Thai/French fusion spot with a daily changing tasting menu. You never know what masterpieces they’ll be cooking up.
Bars
A favorite among locals and ex-pats, Smalls (11-minute walk) is a cocktail-lovers spot with heavy pours. Acrophobics should probably steer clear of Vertigo & Moon Bar (2-minute walk), but if you want the best view in all of Bangkok, you should make it a point of coming here.
