Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit

Why We Like It

The Sheraton is great because it brings a level of refinement to an oft-criticized part of the city. This elegant hotel has a number of stellar eateries – especially Dine in the Dark which you should definitely try. The bars are fun with live music and the spa has unique offerings not found anywhere else. High-end travelers, whether here for business or leisure will feel equally at home, and with easy access to public transit, will be able to get anywhere they need in a moment’s notice.

Fodor's Expert Review

In an area that can vacillate between seedy and stylish, the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is a five-star bastion of civility smack-dab in the middle of it all. Immediate vicinity aside, the hotel itself is part of Sheraton’s Luxury Collection, and with that comes the service and amenities that all high-end travelers have come to expect: great restaurants, cushy rooms, a stellar spa, and more. Business and leisure travelers will feel equally home here as the Les Clefs d’Or concierge is well-versed to help both with any needs.

Room

Standard rooms have fairly blasé carpeting and design but come with either lake or city views. Additional amenities include daily fruit basket, complimentary water, newspapers, and your choice of feather or foam pillow. Butler service is included with suites.

You Should Know Unless you’re a Starwood Preferred Guest member, Wi-Fi will cost you 500 Baht/day.

Bathroom

Bathrooms in standard rooms come with a little more pizazz, featuring brightly blue-tiled sunken tubs, separate showers, giant mirrors, slippers, and plush robes.

Lobby

Marble floors lead guests through the golden-lit lobby, held up with massive pillars, and featuring a sprawling staircase and pond. Guests will find the main hotel restaurant Orchid Café at one end as well.

Pool

One of the most interesting features of the hotel is the jungle-like pool with winding pathways through lush foliage that’s reminiscent of a log ride at an amusement park. Next to the pool is The Sala--a Thai styled restaurant and bar with snacks and drinks throughout the day and a hearty breakfast on weekends.

Spa

The Grande Spa has 10 treatment rooms and comes with unique offerings like hydrotherapy and Siamese head massages. The spa’s locker room has a sauna, steam, and large Jacuzzi bath.

Gym

The Fitness Club is a decent-sized gym that also shares the locker room with the spa. Here, guests can pump iron with free weights or get a cardio workout on Cybex machines. Daily classes are available and include yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and others.

Tip There’s a smoothie bar at the gym--a perfect post-workout pick-me-up.

Dining

There are six different dining options here, including Rossini’s for Italian and Basil for Thai. One of the most unique offerings though is at Barsu (one of the hotel bars), where they host Dine in the Dark. The program is designed to raise awareness for the blind and donates to visually impaired charities. When you arrive, you’ll be led by visually impaired waiters into complete darkness where you’ll feast on a four-course meal that’s a mix of Western, Asian, and other styles.

Drinking

Two great boozy options at the Sheraton include The Living Room, a chic bar with a Sunday jazz brunch, afternoon tea, and nightly live music, and Barsu, a second live music spot with bar food and signature sips.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

The hotel is literally connected to the Asok BTS Skytrain Station and only a 5-minute walk from the Sukhumvit MRT subway station. Both public transit options can scurry you around town quickly. Getting into a taxi around here is easy, but ill-advised because of traffic. Fortunately, the area is very walkable.

Restaurants

Cabbages & Condoms (5-minute walk) is a famous Thai restaurant that helps raise awareness by donating profits to sex education causes. The food’s not too shabby either. For some more refined Thai dining, check out Long Table (9-minute walk) for Thai-fusion food in a hip environment.

Bars

Just down the street is the infamous Soi Cowboy (5-minute), where you’ll find oodles of GoGo Bars and just about anything else of ill-repute. If for nothing else, it’s worth seeing at least once. Above 11 (14-minute walk) alternatively is a refined rooftop bar with delicious drinks and stunning views.
