Why We Like It

The Amari is a budget-friendly hotel with clean rooms, a nice pool, and easy access to all things Bangkok. The location is great as there’s a Skytrain station right nearby and the area is also walking distance to any number of food, drinks, and attractions. If you want a multi-cultural mix in a chaotic part of the city, you can’t go wrong here.

Fodor's Expert Review

It’s hard to miss the Amari Boulevard, what with its pyramid shape and bright blue windows dotting the Bangkok skyline. Inside, however is less audacious, with a spacious lobby, multiple restaurants, and an outdoor pool. Great for budget-conscious travelers, the hotel is ideally located for shopping, eating, and seeing some of Bangkok’s seedier side.

You Should Know This part of the city is a multi-cultural mix of ex-pats and tourists looking for the good, bad, and seedy sides of Bangkok. Always mind your surroundings, and look out for pickpockets.

Room

Simple guest rooms come with coffee, tea, and free water that’s replenished daily. In a city with massive hotels but few balconies, the Amari has an entire wing with white colonnaded terraces that look over the pool.

Bathroom

Depending on the room type, most bathrooms are gray-tiled with black marble sinks. Large soaking tubs and separate showers are typical.

Lobby

Though the lobby is quite large, the low ceilings make it slightly claustrophobic in spots. There’s a bar with light snacks and piano for live music.

Pool

A small pool is surrounded by towering buildings but is big enough for a dip after a long, hot day. Surrounding the pool is an outdoor, wood-slatted patio that also services the Season Thai restaurant.

Gym

A tiny gym is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and provides ‘just’ enough equipment for a complete workout. We’re guessing it’s not used all that much.

Dining

The signature restaurant is The Peppermill, which serves international cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Season Thai is poolside with local favorites for dinner.

Drinking

Open 24-hours, the lobby bar is a relaxed spot for wasting away the day over tea or cocktails.

Always bustling day and night, the area is prime for people-watching, but also great for easy access to other parts of the city. The hotel is a 2-minute walk to the Nana BTS Station that can get you just about anywhere in the city. Walking this area is also great with ample shops, street food vendors, and bars/clubs nearby. Mind your wallets and purses at night and when streets get really crowded.
